Well, here I go into politics. For the life of me, I cannot understand what we are doing in Libya. I cannot see that any component of the just war rationale is clearly fulfilled by this reckless venture. Does anyone think that this will "work"? I do not think that we even know whom we are supporting or what a good outcome would be.

When will we stop rationalizing war? In every case, war is a moral catastrophe. If we are driven into a conflict by the demands of justice, then it should be with a sense of penance. Rather, what seems to happen is that we use just war theory to rationalize what we want to do anyhow.

This just might be the most sensible thing I read all week! Thanks for sharing.
